Welcome to the Songwriting Educational section of my website. Because I am completing an M.A. in eLearning Implementation and Design at the University of Colorado Denver's Information and Learning Technologies program, I have begun to design online courses and education for songwriters.
In Using an Image to Write a Song, you can follow along to create your own song through written self-reflections. The component is meant to be a group-paced, four-week course. Students follow each week's activity, write some type of reflection and then share thoughts and experiences with each other. Near the end of the class, students are expected to give each other feedback on songs produced through classwork.
In Songwriters of Catan, I outline the process of modifying the classic game, Settlers of Catan, to educate students on songwriting. The game is set up just like the original, with the exception of an entirely new 'skin' and some slight changes to the rules. I've presented the information so that anyone, including yourself, could print out the materials and try it for yourself.
